Bloom Beyond Borders
This project was an exploration of biomimicry, how the natural world around us can inspire us in our pursuit for a more sustainable world. The goal was to select an organism and explore innovations that it's biological strategies can motivate. This was a group assignment that we collaborated with a consulting biologist to create. The assignment was made over a ten week period using Revit, Rhino, Lumion, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate. The final product received 2 sliver awards and one bronze award from Indigo Design Award 2024 and an honorable mention in the IDA awards 2024 for "Other Architectural Designs/Conceptual Architectural Designs."

Statement of Intent
BLOOM BEYOND BORDERS is where refugees find hope and rebuild their lives. It is a safe haven for displaced refugees in Indonesia, offering a supportive environment where they can cultivate a purposeful existence.
The system acts to acclimatize both locals and refugees by allowing moments of connection and collaboration, spaces were one can learn from the other and connect with each other. Through integrated programs and activities that are held around, both sides will only gain from the experience as they cultivate their new relationship.
The site and structure add levels of security and protection, both socially and physically. By maintaining the walls and gates, the occupants on both side can feel safe and comfortable, ready to interact instead of afraid to. They also work as storm protection in the case of a natural disaster or flooding. All the structures can collapse to become protective domes.
Whether it be community, economy, interpersonally, or physically, BLOOM provides a responsive space that will eventually bring the walls down.
